Jan Jefferys

My Painting practice, since moving to Tasmania in 2007, is greatly influenced by the fact that I live beside a large body of ever-changing water, the D’Entrecasteaux Channel.

My practice involves painting with oil and wax medium on canvas, also works on paper with water colour and mixed media.

Jan Jefferys

The water of the Channel has metaphorically seeped (and sometimes flooded) into my work.  I enjoy being able to create luscious images of water (sometimes abstracted) and then overlay the water imagery with drawings and textures that playfully allude to my memories, longings and desires. – Jan Jefferys

Waters' Edge by Ange Cooper & Jan Jefferys

Tasmanian artists; Ange Cooper and Jan Jefferys provide us with an exceptional exhibition about the ebb and flow of the waters’ edge that allows us to inhabit this beautiful island.

“My work is based predominantly around the Australian landscape with shack-like houses dotted throughout the environment or some small suggestion of a human made object.” – Ange Cooper
